The Challenge: Nesting Issues Causing Inconsistent EN Plating
The customer’s team approached us because they were experiencing significant quality problems with the electroless nickel plating on parts for one of their programs. Their plating supplier had been unable to resolve a persistent nesting issue (where parts clump together during processing and shield each other from plating solution), resulting in inadequate coverage and inconsistent finishes that caused rejections of the end parts.

We began by thoroughly examining the parts and understanding their application requirements. Developing a successful process took time. Electro-Spec worked closely with the customer through an iterative development phase, refining processing parameters and part handling protocols to ensure consistent electroless nickel coverage on every part.
